The Village of Greenport Local Waterfront Revitalization Program is a locally prepared comprehensive land and water use plan for the Town's natural, public, and developed waterfront resources along the Long Island Sound, Stirling Basin and Greenport Harbor.
The Village of Greenport LWRP refines and supplements the State's Coastal Management Program and provides a comprehensive framework within which critical waterfront issues can be addressed, and planned waterfront improvement projects can be pursued and implemented. The Village's LWRP was originally approved in 1988, and subsequently amended in 1996 to better reflect current conditions and issues. The approval history of Village of Greenport LWRP was published in a final public notice.

The 1988 Village of Greenport LWRP provides a historic perspective on the waterfront revitalization projects.
The Village of Greenport has focused its attention on harbor management issues, the development of its signature public waterfront facility – Mitchell Park – and establishing a vibrant local tourism industry. Also, the Village is preparing an amendment to its LWRP, which will reflect current conditions and a new vision for its waterfront.
